Steps to a Smooth Move
Moving is exciting but usually stressful. For most people, it means a lot of extra work on top of their usual responsibilities. To minimize your stress, follow these steps.
1. Start your packing process early. Go through your home gradually, a little each evening, getting rid of stuff you don’t want and packing the rest into boxes. Start with the rooms of the house you don’t use much. Label your boxes as you go.
2. Make a list of people you need to contact about your change of address. Keep it on your refrigerator and add to it as you think of new ones. Besides friends and family there are utilities, financial institutions and magazine subscriptions.
3. Hire a furniture relocation businesses to do your grunt work for you. They will probably have a lot of good advice and resources to help you with the move too, so make use of them.
4. As you get closer to the day, start eating up your available food, non-perishables first and then the perishables in the refrigerator. Treat yourself to paper plates and plastic utensils for the last week before and the first week after your move.
